Paula M. Hampton 1940 — 2023 Paula M. Hampton, 82, of Maryville/Alcoa, passed away Saturday (March 11, 2023) at U.T, Medical Center after a brief Illness. Surviving are two daughters, Letta Herbstritt and Rhonda Hampton; one son, David Hampton; three brothers, Gordon Swanger, Darrell Swanger, Lee Albert Swanger; several grand children and one great- grandchild along with many nieces and nephews In addition to her parents; Paula is preceded in death by two sons; Tommy Gibbons and Jerry Gibbons; three brothers and one sister. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Mynatt Funeral Home in Halls. A celebration of life gathering will be held at a later date. After graduating from Towanda High School she attended Duke University School of Nursing where she received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing in 1967. In June 1967, she married Charles B. Herron, M.D., whom she met during her nursing training and with whom she had two children. Nancy practiced as a public health nurse before having children. In 1972, Nancy settled in Jackson, Tennessee. Nancy began teaching at Union University's College of Nursing in 1979. Nancy loved all aspects of education. She loved teaching. He was a retired veteran of the United States Navy, Coast Guard and Air Force. A member of Rutherford Memorial United Methodist Church, where he participated in missions work. Edward retired from KUB after 28 years as a lineman. Preceded in death by his parents John Edward and Jewel Turner; sisters Vena Moore and Billie Jean Turner.
