Yeah there are some noticeably low IQ people (even compared to MMA) on the show. They just go into auto-pilot and try to think of something they heard on TV in a similar enough situation before.

Cantender Series in a few years has shoved more garbage cans into the UFC than all of TUF combined, and conversely forced elite prospects like Bonfims to fight for super cheap.

TUF does still exist and half of the Cantenders are gone already. I get where you are coming from but having to fight sometimes three times for free was much worse than getting slapped for 4K. imho

TUF contestants 15 years ago, before inflation, were getting multiple months of cableTV exposure (when cableTV wasn't competing with streaming), plus challenge and finish bonuses, plus room and board, plus time with top coaches and facilitiues and health insurance during the show/training.
The UFC is now worth 2-3x as much, pays basically the same amount, and provides each fighter with about 20 minutes of exposure on an obscure stream, and no health insurance during training.

No; I'm saying that the Cantender Series is even worse garbage by a mile. TUF at least popularized the sport and made a couple guys rich from being on the show. They both exploit fighters; the latter just costs the UFC and ESPN way less money and f*cks fighters even harder and won't ever directly be the reason a fighter gets rich.

You said Cantender was an improvement over TUF being "unpaid".
I pointed out TUF was better financially for fighters (and cost more to produce) and that both exploited fighters, but with the Cantender Series being even more manipulative to both can-production and prospect-manipulation.

Started as 100/100 and by the time I was able to reply Dana had already cut it to 50/50. People would still sign up in droves to compete.

Lol, yeah, I have no idea really how much they get paid. I figured by the looks of the participants they'd sign up for a free 6 pack and a carton of smokes.
