www.tennessean.com THE TENNESSEAN Friday, November 26, 1999 13B TRAFFIC die in crashes as holiday rush clogs roads By BETH WARREN Staff Writer A holiday that sends drivers out in droves did not mix well with rain and wet roads. There were fatal wrecks in Rutherford and Williamson counties yesterday and Wednesday and at least a dozen Midstate accidents with injuries by nightfall on Thanksgiving Day alone, according to Tennessee Highway Patrol reports. Metro police reported 147 crashes within a matter of hours Wednesday evening as a wave of travelers took to the roadways. Police warned drivers to buckle up and slow down or face costly tickets. They made good on their warnings, with troopers ticketing almost 100 Midstate drivers yesterday by 4 p.m., according to THP dispatchers.

At about 1:50 a.m. yesterday, Dana M. Nobles, 30, of Applewood Lane, Murfreesboro, was killed in a crash in Rutherford County. After veering off the roadway in a 1995 Nissan Maxima, Nobles overcorrected and skid into a telephone pole while headed southbound on Highway 231 near Meadow Drive, according to a report filed by Trooper Steve Lowery. In Williamson County, a 27- year-old Columbia, man lost control of his car on Interstate 65 North, just south of the I-840 Death Notices To our readers The Tennessean publishes free seven lines of information about the co deceased.
