Chapter Text

June 3

Graduation. A day of speeches, parties, tears and relief. Relief that they had finally made it, they were done with it.

But honestly at this point it was just a side event to the main course to Obito. No, the main event was the meeting she was in at this very moment alongside Drati and several others, Nedzu and Present Mic smiling at them. None of the recently graduated were wearing costumes, instead they wore simple graduation robes as they were not in the hero track.

“Good afternoon listeners! Thanks for dropping by the station, I’ll go ahead and reintroduce myself real quick. I’m Hizashi Yamada, or Present Mic. I’m a DJ, Radio Host, English Teacher, Pro Hero -aaannnnddd!- I also took over as head of Public Relations here at U.A. So I hope you all are ready to pick up the slack! I’ll let the principal tell you all about the benefits, but for now anyone still interested here is the Bass Line!”

It was kind of awe inspiring how little the Voice Hero seemed to breathe. “You will be working as Interns here at the PR department for the school, and for the heroes working here. U.A. is a hero agency too you know. For the most part we aren't having you run coffee, but instead keeping the little listeners out of trouble, making sure events are posted online and keeping your supervisors up to date with things you notice. Now let me pass the mic.”

Obito had long learned to translate things heroes say as part of their persona, but that pun physically hurt. Her icy blue eyes trailed over to the chimera, even as she questioned what she heard. ‘I thought it was just a job watching over Midoriya, Uraraka and Ashido until I get hired onto their agency. This sounds a bit different.’

She wasn’t sure how she felt about that.

“Hello graduates! I’m happy to see all of you here to join the new program. When we made the decision to have someone of the hero’s year, and one the year above in order to deal with their PR, we did not think about how attached some of you would end up being. All of you have been recommended and have passed the small tests you were given.”

She also didn’t remember any tests like that. Then again this is Nedzu, maybe he hacked the internet and did something screwy.

“Now while you all have a chance to go and see the world, perhaps staying right where you are for a year won’t be so bad. Being hired at this agency gives you a major boost to your reputation in the hero world. Additionally, food, dorms and other amenities will be given. And while you are being paid a small salary, the health benefits include access to Recovery Girl!”

The woman could only nod. Thats not a bad perk, broken bones and other things usually took months and would cut into pay and work. Recovery Girl saved that time and while old, she only uses her target’s stamina to heal allowing her to be much older than most active heroes.

“Additionally you get to continue working with the students you have been assigned!”

Never mind, she knew exactly how she felt about this. Drati squeezed her hand as Obito smiled. Yes. She would need to listen to the rest of his speech, one she knew would be several hours.

…………………………………….

Izumi relaxed as Tsu ran her long fingers through the soft green curls, eyeing the hair critically, her large emerald eyes also sometimes dipping to the skin, trying to find fault or damage.

Finally the Rainy Day Hero nodded satisfied. “You pass. The routine you are using is just about right for you, so please don’t change it.”

Izumi nodded and stood up as Tsu did. The curly haired woman was wearing a dress of maroon and turquoise while the straight haired girl wore yellow shorts and a frilly white vee neck.

“Thanks for checking Tsu. I know you’re probably busy with Toru.”

They smiled before saying goodbye, Tsu leaving the room and Izumi collapsing into her chair, maroon dress flaring, causing the turquoise flowers to swirl and dance.

“I can probably do something… maybe write? I can base it on Mina;s question after the picnic.”

With a goal in mind she started writing. Then she was quickly stumped. For the longest time she had to focus on world building and how to keep so many gods together.

…”Okay I don't need that many gods.”

She started to weave the story together, the different myths and patrons, their champions acting more like warlocks than anything else. Then it was time to write down some characters, each serving different gods and goddesses as they used their champions like board pieces, but some were kinder than others.

The main character, a gothic fusion of herself and Ochako, were given the blessings of Hestia.

The woman’s desire to carve out a home for herself would be the driving force behind her. And of course, there would be a school much like U.A. for the characters to interact with.

All in all it wasn’t even an outline by the time Izumi turned out the lights and crawled into bed.

There wasn’t much more she could do with it as tired as she was,

“Hm. Tomorrow I should work on this a little more…” She was asleep before she could really complete her train of thought.
