TIMES RECORDER, Zanesville, Ohio Monday, Feb. 17, 1997 5A Obituaries ZANESVILLE George E. Lee, 79, 1075 Country Club Drive, died at 6 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, 1997, at Good Samaritan Medical Center after a brief illness.

He was born May 5, 1917, in Duluth, Minn, son of the late Adam Lee and Mabel Foster Lee. He was a retired inspector for McGraw-Edison Co. Following retirement, he was employed by Colony Square Cinema 10 Theatre. Mr. Lee was an Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Helen Travis Lee; one son and daughterin-law, Stephen R. and Lori MeyerLee of Zanesville; three stepsons, Donald Rush, Roger Rush and Douglas Rush, all of Zanesville; five grandchildren; four brothers, James Lee, John Lee and Lawrence Lee, all of Zanesville, and Robert Lee of Florida. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Elda Thomas and Mary Zinsmaster. Calling hours will be 11 a.m. until service time, which will be at 1 p.m.

Tuesday, Feb. 18, 1997, at Hillis Funeral Home, 935 Forest Pastor William L. Meaige officiating. Burial will be in Zanesville Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Nichols Nichols ZANESVILLE Betty L. Nichols, Zanesville, died at 12:40 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 1997, at Adams Lane Care Center after a long illness. She was born Aug.

31, 1935, in Marietta and had lived in Zanesville since the age of 3. She was a volunteer for the Zanesville City Schools for four years before becoming president Nichols of the PTA for Grant and Madison Schools from 1977 to 1980. She was PTA vice president of Rufus Putnam School from 1981-82, soon becoming president of Zanesville City Schools PTA. She was a former employee of Ballas Egg for five years and also worked for Zanesville Health Department and Willow Haven Nursing Home. She was always happy and had a smile for everyone after all she had been through in her lifetime.

Therefore, please cheerful colors when attending the services. Surviving are one son and one daughter, Paul David Singer and Lisa Ann Singer of the home; and one sister, Bernadine Rogers of Zanesville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clement Freeman and Bessie Barber Freeman; one infant son, Nathan David Singer, and one infant daughter, Sharon Lynn Singer; one aunt, Margaret T. Curtis, and one uncle, Harry J. Curtis.

Saturday, Feb. 15, 1997, at his residence after a short illness. He was born Dec. 3, 1941, in Duncanwood, Ohio. He worked for 31 years as a crane operator at Burnham Foundry.

Surviving are his mother, Evelyn DeLucas Tenan of Zanesville; his wife, Arlene Kimble Tenan of Zanesville; one son, Robert L. Tenan of Zanesville; three daughters, Mrs. Dave (Cindy) Lyons of Florida, Mrs. Homer (Candy) Harrier of Zanesville and Mrs. Tommy (Pam) Creeks of Zanesville; nine grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.

A Fresno, Ohio, man reported the theft of stereo equipment from his vehicle at the Ohio 60 and 16 Park-N-Ride stop Wednesday afternoon. An unknown vehicle caused damage to property at 3395 Stine Road Thursday morning. Juveniles throwing snowballs at and causing damage to the Cannelville Church were reported Wednesday night. Three arraigned; plea changed Muskingum County Common Pleas Court Judge W. Allen Wolfe heard one plea and arraigned three area men for various offenses on a light docket last week.

Gregory McConnell, a.k.a. Butch Morosko, 21, of Zanesville, withdrew a former plea and pleaded guilty as charged to theft of over $500 and forgery. Wolfe ordered a presentence investigation with a trial scheduled for March 25 before Judge Richard Hixson. McConnell was indicted Dec. 11, 1996 for stealing a Teamsters Local 637 pension check for $1,570 intended for John Morosko and forging his signature to cash the check.

Morosko is since deceased. Timothy Kerr, 20, of Zanesville, pleaded not guilty to three counts of forgery. Bond was set at $5,000 and he was released on his own recognizance. It is alleged that Kerr had checks belonging to Robert I. Kerr III and Extra spacewalk SPACE CENTER, Houston (AP) NASA on Sunday ordered Discovery's astronauts to conduct an extra spacewalk to patch insulation on the Hubble Space Telescope that's peeling off like worn wallpaper.

Spacewalking astronauts will cover the damaged thermal insulation with swatches of spare material carried on the space shuttle. Although the repair is not considered urgent, scientists do not want to wait until the next servicing mission in late 1999. Additional sun damage to the tissue-thin, reflective insulation could allow Hubble's electronics to overheat and could unbalance its mirrors. Gordon Foraker, 49, of Columbus, pleaded not guilty to passing bad checks with two or more prior felony convictions. Bond was set $5,000 and he was released on his own recognizance.

Foraker was indicted by a Muskingum County grand jury on Sept. 18, 1996 for allegedly writing a bad check for- $439.35 to Hambels Auto Service. He had previously been convicted of grand theft in Guernsey County (1977) and here in Muskingum County (1988) while also being convicted of four counts of passing bad checks in Licking County in 1988. set for tonight Hubble scientist.
